Styrax sumatra or Benzoin belongs to the styracaceae family of trees and is a common inhabitant of the northern hemisphere region.  The styrax tree can gain a height of up to 14 meters and gives a very useful essential oil called Benzoin oil. The oil is extracted from the resin of the styrax sumatra. Primary chemical components in Benzoin essential oil include vanillin, benzoic and benzyl benzoate.
