Tea Tree Essential Oil

Melaleuca alternifolia

Tracing its origins to Australia, the ‘narrow leaved paperback’ (melaleuca alternifolia) also known as the tea tree belongs to the myrtaceae family of trees. Tea tree essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the melaleuca alternifolia. With a major concentration of terpinen-4-ol, this essential oil is a very rich antimicrobial agent.  Tea tree oil is pale yellowish in color and comes with many benefits and properties as explained below:

• Tea tree essential oil is actively used as an ingredient in preparing cosmetic products. 
• Skin care product manufacturing industry has benefitted a lot ever since the antibacterial and anti fungal properties of tea tree oil were discovered. It is an ideal product to tackle common skin issues like acne, ringworm, scabies, etc.
• By increasing the body perspiration, tea tree oil contributes towards the removal of toxins and other impurities.
