Cedarwood oil is extracted via a distillation process from the wood chunks of Juniperus Virginiana or Red Cedar tree. This tree is usually found in high altitudes and so the oil obtained from this tree is a light yellow to orange in color.

 Legend has it that way back, people in Greece used to preserve bodies using Cedarwood oil. This could of been largely because of its rich mosquito/insect repellant properties.
